Who We Are

VELA is an iOS navigation application developed and operated by i6 Developments ("i6dev", "we", "us", or "our"), based in Dayton, Ohio. These Terms of Service govern your use of the VELA app and any related services, websites, or content (collectively, the "Service").

What VELA Does

VELA is a navigation app that generates curated driving routes, provides AI-powered narration about the places along your route, and surfaces nearby points of interest as you drive. It is designed for use on roads in the United States.

Navigation disclaimer: VELA is a discovery and enrichment layer — not a safety-critical navigation system. Always follow actual road signs, traffic laws, and your own judgment. Never interact with the app while driving. VELA is designed to be used hands-free.

Route guidance, narration, and place information are generated using AI and third-party data sources. While we strive for accuracy, we cannot guarantee that all information is current, complete, or correct. Use your own judgment, especially for road conditions, business hours, and safety-sensitive decisions.

Your Subscription

VELA offers a free tier and a paid subscription tier called VELA Pro. Subscription features, pricing, and billing cycles are displayed in the app and on the App Store product page at the time of purchase.

• Auto-renewal. VELA Pro subscriptions automatically renew unless cancelled at least 24 hours before the end of the current billing period. Your Apple ID account is charged upon confirmation of purchase and at the start of each renewal period.
• Free trials. If a free trial is offered, it will be specified in the app. Unused portions of a trial are forfeited when a paid subscription is purchased.
• Cancellation. You may cancel your subscription at any time through your Apple ID account settings. Cancellation takes effect at the end of the current billing period. We do not issue partial refunds for unused time.
• Refunds. All purchases are processed by Apple. Refund requests must be submitted to Apple through their standard refund process at reportaproblem.apple.com. We have no control over Apple's refund decisions.
• Price changes. We may change subscription prices at any time. Existing subscribers will be notified of price changes in advance and given the opportunity to cancel before the new price takes effect.

Subscriptions are managed through your Apple ID. VELA has no access to your payment information.

License to Use VELA

Subject to these Terms, i6dev grants you a limited, non-exclusive, non-transferable, revocable license to download and use VELA for your personal, non-commercial use on Apple devices you own or control.

You may not:

• Reverse-engineer, decompile, or disassemble the app
• Use the app for any commercial purpose without our written permission
• Reproduce, redistribute, or create derivative works of VELA or its content
• Use automated tools to access or scrape the Service
• Attempt to interfere with or disrupt the Service or its infrastructure

Location and Data

VELA requires access to your device's location to function. Location data is used in real time to generate routes, deliver narration at the right moment, and surface nearby places. We do not sell your location data.

Location is processed on-device where possible. Some features — including route generation and AI narration — send general geographic information (like your origin coordinates and destination) to our servers to produce results. See our Privacy Policy for full details on how we handle your data.

Third-Party Services

VELA relies on several third-party services to work. By using VELA, you also agree to be bound by their applicable terms:

• Mapbox — map rendering and turn-by-turn navigation directions
• Apple WeatherKit — weather and atmospheric conditions
• OpenAI — AI narration and route intelligence
• ElevenLabs — text-to-speech voice synthesis
• Supabase — backend infrastructure and edge functions
• Apple CloudKit — saved route and journey history storage

We are not responsible for the availability, accuracy, or policies of these third-party services. Their use within VELA is subject to their respective terms and privacy policies.

AI-Generated Content

Route names, narration, and place descriptions in VELA are generated by artificial intelligence. While we work hard to ground this content in verifiable sources — Wikipedia, Wikidata, NPS records, and others — AI-generated content may contain inaccuracies.

Do not rely on VELA narration for safety-critical decisions. Historical facts, business information, and place details may be incomplete or out of date. If something seems wrong, trust your own judgment and real-world sources.

Disclaimers and Limitation of Liability

THE SERVICE IS PROVIDED "AS IS" WITHOUT WARRANTIES OF ANY KIND, EXPRESS OR IMPLIED, INCLUDING BUT NOT LIMITED TO WARRANTIES OF MERCHANTABILITY, FITNESS FOR A PARTICULAR PURPOSE, OR NON-INFRINGEMENT.

We do not warrant that VELA will be available at all times, error-free, or that navigation information will be accurate. Use VELA as a supplement to, not a replacement for, your own situational awareness and judgment.

TO THE MAXIMUM EXTENT PERMITTED BY APPLICABLE LAW, i6 DEVELOPMENTS SHALL NOT BE LIABLE FOR ANY INDIRECT, INCIDENTAL, SPECIAL, CONSEQUENTIAL, OR PUNITIVE DAMAGES ARISING FROM YOUR USE OF THE SERVICE, INCLUDING ANY ACCIDENTS, PROPERTY DAMAGE, OR PERSONAL INJURY OCCURRING WHILE USING VELA.

Changes to These Terms

We may update these Terms from time to time. When we do, we'll update the "Last updated" date at the top. For significant changes, we'll notify you through the app. Continued use of VELA after changes take effect means you accept the revised Terms.

Governing Law

These Terms are governed by the laws of the State of Ohio, United States, without regard to its conflict of law principles. Any disputes shall be resolved in the courts of Montgomery County, Ohio.
